Our Home, Our Inspiration
Sean, his wife Ashley, and their daughter Maeve live just a short walk from Belle Isle and the James River. From Maeve’s earliest days, their family has spent time exploring the trails, rocks, and riverbanks together—turning everyday walks into small adventures.
Those moments along the river have shaped Safari RVA’s heart and purpose: sharing the joy, curiosity, and connection they’ve found outdoors with other families and young explorers.

A Bit About Me
Sean Palmer, founder of Safari RVA, is an outdoor educator and lifelong explorer. He spent over a decade leading children and adults in outdoor education and wilderness experiences across California, Alaska, Mexico, and Central America.
A solo traveler to 27 countries, Sean now serves as an elementary school guidance counselor in Henrico County and lives along the James River with his family. Through Safari RVA, he brings his love of adventure and learning home to inspire the next generation of young explorers.
Why Choose Us?
At Safari RVA, we believe adventure, connection, and exploration are essential parts of growing up. Our camp invites kids to step away from screens and step into nature— discovering new skills, making friends, and building confidence along the way. Through playful outdoor experiences on the James River and in Richmond’s beautiful parks, campers learn to be curious, resilient, and comfortable in the natural world.
Safari RVA creates fun, safe, and memorable experiences that let kids explore, connect, and adventure. Because summer is meant for getting outside, trying new things, and getting a little dirty.
